# How do I create a new assignment?

## Click Assignments, then New assignment, and step through the form.

1. Click **Assignments**, then **New assignment**.
2. Choose Hourly or Salary, then fill in the worksite, timesheet approver, billing contact and rates.
3. If you share this assignment with another partner, set the distribution split on the form.
4. Click **Submit assignment**.

**Good to know**

- BOSS is notified when you submit.
- The assignment can't start until BOSS has approved the client.
- Only users who can see pay or bill rates can enter them.
- The worksite sets the work state, which affects BOSS rates.
