Sick time required by law is separate. Paid time off and sick time are different. **Paid time off** The **Paid time off** card is on a W-2 assignment. The card says this is extra time you choose to offer, like vacation or personal days. It is not sick leave. Where the law requires paid sick leave, BOSS tracks and pays it. You do not turn this card on for that. 1. Open the assignment and find **Paid time off**. 2. Choose a mode. **Off: no paid time off.** **Associate requests, you approve (recommended).** **Associate enters it, you can decline.** 3. **Bill the client** bills that time at the regular bill amount. Only an owner or an admin can change the card. In the recommended mode, the associate gets **Request paid time off**. You get an email to approve or decline each day, until noon Eastern on the Tuesday after that week. Only approved days are paid. **Recent paid time off** lists them on the assignment. **Sick time** 1. When you add a client, or on **Request change** for the client, the form can ask **How should sick time be billed to this client?** 2. Choose **Regular rate**, **BOSS rate only**, or **Do not bill**. Payrolling companies do not see **BOSS rate only**. 3. Submit the client, or **Submit request**. BOSS applies a requested change. **Good to know** - Paid time off is for active W-2 assignments. It does not turn on for 1099. - A request that is not approved by noon Eastern on Tuesday expires unpaid. - You do not enter required sick hours on the paid time off card. Questions?
