What do I do if I am injured on the job?

If you are injured while working on assignment, you may need to report a workers’ comp incident. We ask that you let BOSS know immediately so we can guide you through the process. If the incident is life threatening, please call 911.

WC procedures:
  • After speaking with BOSS, we will ask you to call our 24/7 workers comp Triage/Telemed phone number (1‐844-837-2122) and select option 3 to report the incident. You will speak with a nurse or doctor from the workers comp company, and they will provide guidance and next steps
    • Note: If you are working in the following states, do not call the telemed hotline, reach out to BOSS for guidance (North Dakota, Ohio, Washington, Wyoming) in these states you are covered by a state policy through BOSS. If you are unable to reach BOSS and need immediate treatment, please do so and retain any medical bills to send to BOSS.

  • If you need medical treatment (non-life threatening) you should not go to an ER or Urgent Care center. Our workers comp company will provide you with the nearest treatment center in the network for care.
    • Note – if you go to a non-authorized treatment center you will likely be turned away without authorization or the cost may not be covered so it is very important that you follow the instructions and call the workers comp phone number.
  • After you speak with Telemed, we ask that you send a detailed description of the incident, along with the instructions given on the call and any notes you receive from the doctor, including follow-ups.
  • We will request your worksite to fill out a Witness Injury Statement form and send back to us

BOSS post-incident instructions:

  • If you go for a treatment visit, we will fill out a Report of Injury form and send it to our WC carrier on your behalf. We will include your detailed email and all of the documents you provided to us from the doctor.
  • The claim will be opened when you call, and if you move forward, you will be assigned a claims adjuster who will guide you through the next steps

It is imperative that all claims are reported to our carrier within 24 hours of knowledge of the claim, no matter how minor the incident.
